:: Antidepressants Versus Subconscious Restructuring®

Antidepressants vs
Subconscious Restructuring®

The Claim

The Claim

All antidepressants use terms like presume or we believe to describe how antidepressants work. On the Abilify site they tell you straight up front, "How Abilify is Thought to Work." The claim from antidepressant medications is there is a chemical imbalance in the brain. There is not a shred of evidence to support this. In fact there is hard science indicating the exact opposite.

What we do know is antidepressants change the chemistry of the brain and cause a wide range of physiological issues that did not exist before introduction to the medication.

SR® does not make any claims it cannot prove with hard data. When we state to be the only evidence-based program process in coaching, counseling or mental health and the only proven process for depression we have the data to back it up.

In a PBS special called "Depression out of the Shadows" Dr. Helen Mayberg inadvertently discovered depression is a software problem (subconscious) not a hardware problem (brain) as claimed by the manufactures of antidepressants. Dr. Mayberg discovered that one’s thought processes can cause changes in the brain not the other way around. In other words it is your thought process that cause you to be depressed and can affect how your brain functions.

SR® is designed to guide you through the process of how your subconscious works and then how to interrupt and change any thought process which may be putting you in an emotional state that simply does not work.

The Approach

The Approach

You simply go to your doctor and tell them you are depressed. You immediately get a prescription for an antidepressant. Occasionally the prescription will accompany a questionnaire but most of the time it does not.

Everything a human being does is emotionally driven. This is why the 7 Step process of SR® begins with an Emotional Checklist. Everyone Certified in the SR® process is required to initiate your session with the Emotional Checklist. After a client has completed the 7 Step process of SR® a follow-up Emotional Checklist is used to measure and monitor the progress of the client.

Timeframe

Timeframe

Finding the right combination of medication to alleviate depression symptoms can take years. When you are guessing it is not possible to establish a timeframe.

It can take as little as four hours to reduce depression symptoms with SR®. In a documented four hour study conducted by Dr. Clark a 22% reduction in depression symptoms was achieved.

Because of the 25 years of research, development and refinement behind Subconscious Restructuring we are able to make a reasonable estimate of the timeline for all demographics. There are several variables which are included as part of this equation.

Risks

Risks

Abilify claims that two out of every three people who take antidepressants still suffer from depression symptoms so they recommend you add their drug to the antidepressant you are already taking. Following are some of the warnings posted on their site.

Very high fever, rigid muscles, shaking, confusion, sweating, or increased heart rate and blood pressure. These may be signs of a condition called neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS), a rare but serious side effect which could be fatal.

Abnormal or uncontrollable movements of face, tongue, or other parts of body. These may be signs of a serious condition called tardive dyskinesia (TD), which could become permanent

If you have diabetes, or risk factors for diabetes (for example, obesity, family history of diabetes), or unexpected increases in thirst, urination, or hunger, your blood sugar should be monitored. Increases in blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia), in some cases serious and associated with coma or death, have been reported in patients taking ABILIFY and medicines like it

Lightheadedness or faintness caused by a sudden change in heart rate and blood pressure when rising quickly from a sitting or lying position (orthostatic hypotension) has been reported with ABILIFY.

ABILIFY and medicines like it can affect your judgment, thinking, or motor skills. You should not drive or operate hazardous machinery until you know how ABILIFY affects you.

Medicines like ABILIFY can impact your body’s ability to reduce body temperature; you should avoid overheating and dehydration.

ABILIFY and medicines like it have been associated with swallowing problems (dysphagia). If you had or have swallowing problems, you should tell your healthcare professional.

The only risk involved in SR® is if a client is not truthful in regard to their Emotional Checklist. The Certified SR® Coach is dependent upon honest accurate information from the client.

How Results are Measured

How Results are Measured

Results are measured by asking the client if they feel better or occasionally a questionnaire is used to indicate whether they are feeling better.

There are three instruments of measurement in SR®.

The first instrument is an Emotional Checklist. We have identified Fear, Guilt, and Anger as he the most significant issues to address initially.

The second instrument is a Behavior Control Checklist. This is used by the SR Coach/Counselor to determine whether they are doing their job or not.

The third instrument is a relationship satisfaction scale. This instrument measures how you get along with other people. We feel people skills will always outweigh intelligence. The “7-17 Relationship Satisfaction Scale” is different than the Adult or Warrior version in that it allows the child to measure how teachers and adults relate to them.
